The city of Lublin, utilising the support of European financing, is conducting a series of undertakings aiming at moving the traffic out of the city centre. One of such undertakings has been the project of reconstruction of Solidarności and Gen. Wł. Sikorskiego Av. with Gen. Ducha st. junction. Solidarności Av. has been lead on the overpass, while beneath (along Gen. Ducha st. and Gen. Sikorskiego Av.) roundabout was constructed. This has facilitated the exit form Botanik settlement towards the city centre. Parts of Gen. Ducha st. and Gen. Sikorskiego Av. have been reconstructed. Północna st. has been lead in a new lane, junctioning with Gen. Ducha st. in the half of its length.

The task also encompassed the construction of additional infrastructure. On the side of Górki Czechowskie retaining wall has been built. Existing bus bays and pavements have been remodelled, and some new pavements and bike routes created. Near Kosmowska st. new pedestrian overpass has been erected. As part of facilitations for disabled the curbs have been lowered, stripe of texturised sett, easily recognised by blind persons, has been laid and sound signalling has been added to the traffic lights.   Reconstruction of the junction has not only influenced the traffic flow within the city, but has also improved the saftyness. The investment has resulted in grade-separated exit from the city towards Warsaw or Zamość, improved connectability between city’s settlements, as well as connection with city’s business area, important for the regional development. Moving transit traffic onto the Lublin’s bypass, and therefore lessening the communication stress of central districts, will also have positive influence on preserving the natural environment.
