The main objective of the project (in the period 11.2017-10.2019) is to facilitate the entry to the labor market 125 students (63 women, 62 men) of the last two semesters of full-time first and second degree studies in Geography and Management of the environment at the Faculty of Geographical and Geological Sciences of the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan (UAM), by equipping them with competences that meet the needs of the economy and employers, facilitating their functioning in the structures of employers.

The goal will be achieved through the implementation of high quality training program, in accordance with the Council Recommendations of 10 March 2014 on the quality framework of internships and taking into account the Applicant’s experience in the implementation of projects „Competency promotion” and „job market”, as well as cooperation with employers.

The project’s target group is 125 people, students of the last two semesters of full-time first and second degree studies in the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 academic years at Faculty of Geography and Geology UAM, majoring in Geography, including all specialties: general, geoinformation, city ecology, hydrology, meteorology and climatology, cartography and topography, socio-economic geography and monitoring of geoecosystems, environmental management (world heritage).

The main result of the project is 113 people who raised their competences as part of university activities supported by the ESF.

Completed tasks: Observer of geographical environment: national practical internships in the field of environmental data acquisition through field and laboratory research, environmental monitoring and preparation of environmental assessments.

State and local administration employee: national practical internships in the field of sharing spatial and environmental data and making administrative decisions.

Polar research – practical internships in the field of polar research.Substantiation:Interesting international internships for students of Geography will be implemented in this project: Polar researcher – foreign practical internships in the field of polar research – internships are held at the seasonal Petuniabukta Polar Station on the island of Spitsbergen, in the Svalbard Archipelago – a very remote and isolated place with limited contact (no mail, no cell phone coverage, internet, access to the power grid, etc.). „The interns will stay at the station for three months, in field conditions (the polar station consists of two containers, without infrastructure in the form of a power line, water supply or sewage system) during the summer and polar autumn. In addition to the basic equipment for survival and daily functioning, trainees had to have appropriate clothing and equipment for field work on glaciers and in their vicinity, and to have weapons and ammunition at their disposal (on the island, outside Longyearbyen, possession and ability to use weapons are mandatory – due to the presence of polar bears)” (the above information was taken from the correspondence with Beneficiary 16/01/2019).
