perspective
2014 - 2020

A new car catalyst is a considerable expense – it can cost even over a thousand PLN. On average, every four years it should be replaced, but when it is worn out, do not throw it away. By recycling to in specialized company, you can recover some money and additionally do something good for the environment. Worn catalysts containing precious metals such as platinum, palladium or rhodium are extremely attractive recyclable items. Recycling of 2 tons of old catalysts makes it possible to avoid the extraction of 150 tons of ore and a whole series of follow-up steps, resulting in obtaining pure metal. It also makes it possible to obtain 1-3 kg of platinum! Current market trends show that the demand for precious metals in industry will increase in the coming years. The reason for that is, for instance, the successive development of the automotive industry, which is largely based on the use of metals. Recycling of precious metals brings many tangible benefits, both ecological (reduction of energy expenditure, reduction of pollution, protection of natural resources, lesser burden of landfills) and economic (stabilization of metal prices on the market). However, the biggest problem in the industry at the moment is the lack of properly developed technologies that would allow the processing of catalysts and recovery of precious metals in an economically effective and precise manner in terms of the quality of the final product. Technologies currently used in Poland have significant disadvantages: first of all, they involve very high waste of materials, which on the one hand affects low profitability, and on the other hand the insufficient technical and functional parameters of the final product. The investment of the KAT-RECYKLING company from Świdnica consists precisely in the development and implementation of an innovative technology for recycling of car catalysts, which allows the production of high-quality precious metals, very desirable in modern industry.
