Odra Centre – we build the identity of Odrzans’ – Construction of a model low-emission floating facility for the development of education, tourism and entrepreneurship
Discover the Oder from a different perspective
There is a place in Wrocław where you can feel almost like on holiday all year round. After all, isn’t water what we associate with relaxation? In autumn and winter, it may be windy, but the calming view of the water is still pleasant. All this in Odra Centrum, a model low-emission building moored on the banks of the Oder, right at the mouth of the Oława river and close to Grunwaldzki Bridge.
The building attracts attention because it is modern and equipped with devices that reduce electricity consumption. Here, the electricity is obtained from solar energy and the thermal energy of the river. What is important for the creators of this idea is the desire to bring children, young people, and adults closer to modern technologies which have an impact on climate protection and to inform them about the rational use of resources, especially water.
The Odra Centre is also a meeting place and an educational and cultural center under the name „We build the identity of Odrzans”. Various events are organised here – workshops, conferences, and training sessions, especially in the field of environmental education. It is also an amazing place for the youngest, as various activities are held for them, during which they discover the Oder and try to understand the principles of the ecosystem in which they live.
A small boathouse, small retention, water saving or water safety – these are just some of the attractions for children. And if you add to this the possibility of renting a canoe or boat and setting off on a cruise on the Oder – it may turn out that one visit to this attractive place is not enough. Camps organised both during the summer and winter holidays are also very popular.
Interesting projects realised by Odra Centrum:
School on the Water – where children gain knowledge about the river, its history, hydraulic engineering, hydrology, ecology, flora, and fauna,
iOdra – a tourist information point on the Oder River,
ODRATEKA – a library where all kinds of materials about the Oder River are collected, as well as the Oder Café.
The Small Boathouse – a place where everyone can build their first boat, learn the secrets of boatbuilding, the rich history of inland navigation, and fall in love with the Oder
Knot Academy – unique knot-tying workshops, which develop manual skills and are
