Thermal modernization of multi-family buildings owned by the Homeowner Association Podzamcze in Wałbrzych
Colourful facades of blocks of flats often hide a lot more than just an appearance and aesthetics improvement. Nobody knows it better than the residents of the Wałbrzych Homeowner Association Podzamcze who decided to improve the quality of life in their flats with assistance of the EU funds and they succeeded in renovating the buildings they live in.
The largest issue in case of the block of flats from the period of the so-called “large board” was lack of protection against loss of heat. Thermal insulation is known to be the best method of improving the energy efficiency of the buildings. Thanks to such actions, energy savings are obtained which ultimately allows to obtain lower costs related to heating in winter and cooling in summer.
In order to properly prepare for thermal modernization works an energy audit was carried out that revealed the level of modernization works that needed to be done in order to actually decrease the demand for energy. The scope of works was quite broad – starting with the central heating system modernization, through thermal insulation of the roof, the walls, the balconies, ending with replacement of doors and windows in the common parts. Furthermore, solar lamps were mounted and buildings were adjusted to the needs of the disabled.
An important element of the project was also the educational aspect, that is, training of inhabitants and employees in the scope of proper energy management. Such comprehensive actions will surely bring measurable benefits for everyone involved, since apart from the inhabitants, also the environment will become its beneficiary.
