Modernization of the bus fleet for public transport in Wrocław in terms of reducing exhaust emissions
50 modern buses from Autumn of 2019 have been driving along the streets of Wrocław. They are comfortable, safe, easy to service and eco-friendly. The city authorities are keen on constantly increasing the standard of public transport. They wish for the travellers to be satisfied and this goal will be achieved as public transport vehicles are now comfortable, clean and on time. The European Union has been of assistance in this pursuit.
All buses have an air-conditioning and monitoring as well as passenger information system with inside monitors where important messages are displayed regarding traffic obstacles or detours. In several places one may find additional amenities for the passengers – USB ports for charging electronic devices, i.e. mobile phones or tablets. Before these buses were launched, the drivers of MPK company participated in special trainings from servicing the purchased vehicles which consisted of driving in extreme conditions.
These low-floor articulated buses with internal combustion fulfil rigid standards of combustion emission of EURO 6 (this European standard has been in place since 2015 and through establishing rigorous standards of emission of harmful substances to the environment it enforces the production of more and more eco-friendly passenger vehicles and trucks), which will contribute to the capital of Lower Silesia becoming cleaner and safer for the environment. 50 modern buses “replaced” the same amount of old, used and harmful for the environment and health of inhabitants buses that were utilized.
