Construction of the Łaźniki biogas plant
Biogas plants are increasingly common installations, especially in agricultural areas. They produce gas from biomass, which is produced in the process of fermentation of various natural waste (e.g. vegetable, organic i.e. waste from the food industry, or animal excrements). Such biogas is then burned in a heat and power plant, which generates electricity and heat. Biogas plants are an ideal way to acquire the so-called green energy and are an excellent alternative to traditional resources. They not only give the opportunity to obtain cheap energy, but also solve the problem of waste storage, which is especially problematic on farms. Thanks to EU funding, such a biogas plant was constructed in Łaźniki near Złotoryja. The investment included construction of a technical, social and office building with a control room. What is more, outbuildings for temporary storage of agricultural produce were constructed and sets of tanks, devices and installations for biogas production, as well as devices for production and transmission of electricity and heat were installed. In order to promote pro-ecological attitudes and knowledge about the benefits of biogas-based energy production, the project implementers also ensured that a teaching room was created in the facility, in which trainings and workshops on renewable energy sources are held. Roads and parking lots for heavy vehicles have also been built around the biogas plant. The Łaźniki biogas plant is the only producer of green energy in the area.
