Adapting a historic palace in Scinawa to serve as a creative work centre with the function of a youth hostel
Environmental and cultural values of Scinawa attract many tourists. The main reason for that being the town’s location – there are numerous Oder’s river old river beds and the largest complex of the Oder breeding forests. The municipality is doing its best to explore its potential and invests in tourism development. Thanks to EU financial support a historic palace in Scinawa was renovated where a youth hostel was established.
“Pałacyk” (a little palace) can accommodate 70 people. The construction of the facility was based on state-of-the-art solutions, positively influencing the natural environment. For instance, energy-saving lighting fitted with an intelligent power management system based on external conditions was installed which reduces the energy uptake. Also, a new heating system with gas stove was installed. The building which functions additionally as a centre of creative work houses a modern educational room, dining room, a lift adjusted to the needs of the disabled and a cafe bar. The investment included the development of the area around the building as well as renewing the elevation and renovation of the stairs.
A rebuilt “Pałacyk” hosts a wide range of events, i.e. workshops, seminars, conferences, cabaret festivals, concerts, and last but not least, holiday camps for children. The youth hostel, in turn, provides some employment possibilities for the local residents.
