Presentation and illumination of the Lenno Castle (stage VII of works)
Within the Wleń Municipality one may encounter one of the oldest brick castles in Poland-this has been repeated over and over again for years by the lovers of Medieval fortresses who have entered the Lenno castle on the list of the Piast Castles. One of the hosts of the castle was Henryk Brodaty who lived here with his wife Jadwiga, the same who later became the patroness of Silesia. Several hundred years old ruins (the first fortified city on the Castle Hill was built as early as in the X century, during the ruling of Bolesław Chrobry) until 2006 were often visited by tourists, until the south-western wall fell down. Years of negligence left their mark. The castle was then closed and secured.
Since 2009 renovation works have been carried out. The last stage in the effort to restore greatness of the castle is to secure the walls, conduct drainage of the object, perform light illumination, mount balustrades and handrails, and install monitoring of the object and of the path along the courtyard. Thanks to the conducted works, Lenno is again visited by history lovers and it is again possible to admire the view over the Karkonosze Mountains, Kaczawskie and Izerskie Mountains from the castle fortified tower. It is also possible to organize events of educational, cultural and historical nature in the castle. How has the castle and its vicinity changed? You simply have to see it for yourself!
