Management of part of are of the Szczytnicki Park in Wrocław – stage I
One of the oldest parks in Wrocław – Szczytnicki Park – continues to be be under care of naturalists and order services. The area serves the purpose of recreation and rest and thanks to the EU funds it will become even more neat and refreshed. The lawns and alleys were rennovated and now, instaed of asphalt surfaces, they now have mineral ones. The repaired benches, new dustbins, repaced sanitry and elctronic installations – these are just some of the elements from a long list of works that were carried out. The second part of works concerns protection of nature: plantings of trees and bushes were supplemented and bird and bat sheds were placed on trees, houses for squirrels and insect hotels were built.
More than one hundred hectars of green areas spraed among the streets of: Różyckiego, Paderewskiego, Kopernika and Olszewskiego. Many species of animals occupy this area (i.e. Martens, foxes, 70 species of birds), more than 350 species of trees grow there coming from various different continents (i.e. Hymalayan pine from Asia, Lawson’s cypress trees from North America). The Szczytnicki Park (german: Scheitniger Park) was established in the 80’s of the XVIII century by prince Fryderyk Ludwik Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen, former commandant of the Wrocław garrison and owner of the szczytniki village.
