Protection of naturally precious areas of the Kaczawskie Hills and Foothills through construction of alternative trails and cycling routes
The Kaczawskie Hiss and Foothills are a low mountain range, thus underappreciated by tourists. Wrongly so! It is beyond any doubt one of the most interesting regions of Poland in terms of landscapes, also called the Land of Extinct Volcanoes. Traces of volcanic activity may be spotted along the way and Ostrzyca, the highest slope of the Foothills, is even called the Polish Fujiyama. Precious time may be spent here by the fans of gemstone collecting. Similarly, naturalists may discover some unique spots here, especially inside the Landscape Park “Chełmy”.
Świerzawa along with the neighbouring municipalities: Wojcieszów and Pielgrzymka, as well as forest district in Złotoryja pursued the EU funding and built new tourist trails, cycling routes and viewing points in order to attract more tourists. Viewing towers were built on Zawodna mountain in Gozdno as well as on Dłużek mountain in Wojcieszów municipality, while a viewing platform was located on the already existing viewing spot in Okole. Picturesque trails around the slopes of Okole and Ostrzyca encourage 2-wheel lovers to sightsee the area. Furthermore, two single track type of trail loops were marked in Ostrzyca. It is a special type of cycling routes which allows to cycle around the forest providing adrenaline rush thanks to hundreds of narrow turns, rebounds and bumps. Bike renal was also launched to support the tourists – it is also possible to rent the bikes online.
Expansion of the cycling routes and viewing points took place bearing in mind the principles of preserving natural environment so that both fauna and flora of the area remained unchanged.
