Reconstruction of the Cukrownicza Street with the accompanying infrastructure connecting it to the national route
The Cukrownicza Street in Jawor has for many years been referred to as “concrete spot” due to the surface materials, numerous surface unevenness spots and holes which make this nickname reasonable. To make things worse, the road lacked sidewalks and exits to properties. Until 2015, it belonged to the Poviat Starost Office in Jawor, and later it was passed under the supervision of the municipality. And the municipality, with support of the car potentate wishing to invest in that area applied for the EU funding for a comprehensive renovation.
Today, this road is beyond recognition: it has a new surface with entry and exit lines, the deadweight of which was adjusted to the needs of motor transport. Furthermore, comfortable sidewalks, bike routes, lights and bus stop sheds were installed and the water and sewerage network was modernized in the framework of another measure. The broken, concrete boards of the surface are long gone. The road has become safe and modern-looking. The inhabitants have been waiting for a road like this for 60 years!
The Cukrownicza Street, though located at the outskirts of the city, is still an important communicational node for the whole area – it is indeed a window to the world as it combines Jawor with the national road no. 3 (Świnoujście – country border with the Czech Republic) as well as the recently created express road S3. Thanks to it, the city gained a connection with the network of international routes of Europe. Moreover, the renovation of the road surface enabled utility infrastructure forming for the investment area of the Jawor economic zone which will surely encourage further companies – on top of the functioning ones such as the Mercedes-Benz Company and the Agricultural Enterprise Pegrol – to establish their seats in the city. And this obviously constitutes a true chance for the growth of the whole municipality.
