Modernization of a building at 14 Lubańska Street in Nowogrodziec for its subsequent transformation into social flats
Modernization and renovation of buildings is a uniquely important action as thanks to it, objects obtain new functions and, often times, gain a second life. Such investments may be realized from the EU funds created to support the actions towards revitalizing the forgotten and neglected buildings and thanks to this, new possibilities appear for the inhabitants and their quality of life is improved.
This was the case in Nowogrodziec, where the municipality rebuilt a building by Lubańska Street in which a production plant was once held. Thanks to the renovation of the object and improving its technical condition it was possible to adjust and assign part of the premises to become comfortable and aesthetic social flats in which families in difficult financial situation could live. As a result, 16 such flats were created, including one adjusted to the needs of the disabled residents.
A wide-scale construction works entirely changed the space management of the existing building as well as the area around it. They covered, among others, demolishing the existing partition walls, carrying out new door holes and window holes, liquidating the existing stairways and expanding the building by two external staircase towers. Within the whole object, the inhabitants now have a new electrical and sewerage system and building thermal insulation was carried out in order to improve the electricity efficiency.
At present, due to the extensive object reconstruction, it performs three functions: service – located in the ground floor of the building, commercial of small “entrepreneurship incubator” nature with rental of low-leased premises designated for economic activity on the first floor and residential with social flats for inhabitants of the municipality on the first and second floor of the building.
