Kuyavian-Pomeranian - development through culture
Camerimage, Bella Skyway Festival, Bydgoszcz Opera Festival, Tofifest Film Festival, European Jazz Academy – these are just some of the events organized with funding from the means of the Regional Operational Program (ROP). The project “Kuyavian-Pomeranian – development through culture” is being carried out under action 4.4 of the ROP WK-P. The leader is the regional goverment, which together with partners (e.g. with municipalities, non-governmental organizations) organizes prestigious international events. What is important, in order to obtain funds, the partners must have their own contribution equal to the amount they apply for – both in financial form, as well as in the form of volunteering or barter contracts. This means that only the projects organized in the best way ensuring the highest level of artistic value and attracting the outstanding artists and audience are supported. Every time the subsidy can reach even 1 million PLN. During the two years of the program’s operation, it was used by the creators of over 30 events from such diverse fields as cinema, music, theater and performative arts. Kuyavian-Pomeranian is the only region in Poland that supports artists and event organizers on such a scale under the new EU perspective. The aim of the project is not subsidizing cultural events, but broadly defined the development of regional economy. The implementation of large and prestigious festivals means not only a significant number of viewers, including foreign ones, but also an increase in the demand for services related to, among others with tourism, gastronomy, transport or logistics in the region. Such activities also have a positive impact on the region’s brand.
