School of Professionals
“School of Professionals” project is aimed at students of seventeen technical schools from the region. Young people participate in university classes, specialized vocational courses and paid internships with employers. Teachers and schools also benefit by receiving didactic equipment. Support within the framework of the project “School of Professionals” uses 700 students and 24 teachers from 17 technical schools, educating in professions which are in line with regional smart specializations, that is, those areas in which we focus on economy and science: professions related to the production and processing of food, automotive and industrial automation, IT, renewable energy, transport and logistics. The Marshal’s Office carries out the project together with partners – the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Local Government Association “Europe of Kuyavia and Pomerania” and 7 local self-governments: city of Toruń (6 schools), city of Włocławek (4 schools), city of Grudziądz (2 schools), Świecie district (1 school), Wąbrzeźno district (1 school), Tuchola district (1 school), Żnin district (2 schools). University classes As part of the undertaking, there are classes for 400 students conducted by academic teachers in the laboratories of the Polytechnic University and the Institute of Physics of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
The activities carried out since September have been devoted to, among others, programmable systems, 3D printing, industrial controllers, CNC machines and virtual measuring instruments. Specialized courses and professional language Students also participate in training to gain additional professional qualifications. This includes, among others, courses in specialized welding methods, forklift truck handling, computer graphics, crane operation, mobile platforms and JAVA programming. So far, 90 students have completed this type of training. Youth also participate in extracurricular activities in professional language, whose command will enable them to conduct advanced communication in selected occupations. Practical apprenticeships with employers A quarter of a thousand participants of the project took part in additional professional apprenticeships (150 hours) at employers. Each student received a scholarship in the amount of 1 500 zlotys. 60 workplaces have been involved in the undertaking, including Mueller – Candle Factory in Grudziądz, Jabil Circuit Poland in Kwidzyń, Audi Centrum Toruń Fortis Auto, DBK in Toruń, Norauto Poland in Toruń, Reflex Poland in Włocławek, Euro Panels in Włocławek, Raben Logistics Poland in Włocławek, Tautonia Productions in Włocławek, New Technology Service in Włocławek, Auto Zone (Peugeot) in Włocławek, Wątarski (Skoda) in Włocławek, Kohler + Bovenkamp Poland in Żnin. Equipment for schools As part of the project, school professional workshops and language studios were fitted with modern didactic equipment . Among the purchased devices there are 100 computer sets, as well as projectors, printers and systems for teaching foreign languages. Knowledge also for teachers Teachers and instructors of practical vocational training who take part in training and specialist courses improving skills and professional competences also benefit from the support. They also enroll in post-graduate studies in programming of numerically controlled machine tools, computer graphics and IT systems. Competition for inventors A part of the project is also the competition entitled “The Innovator – 1st Jan Czochralski Contest of Inventiveness and Innovation “, organized by the Association “Europe of Kuyavia and Pomerania” in which students in cooperation with teachers undertake to construct their own invention. Of the 20 teams which entered the competition, 15 qualified to the next stage where each will receive a grant of up to 8 000 zlotys for the implementation of the invention.
