Implementation period: 22.07.2015-30.11.2018 Project description The main objective of the project is to reduce pollutant emissions from the automotive sector. The project is a part of the ROP L-2020 – Specific objective of Priority Axis No. 3. The effect of the project will be the creation of cycling infrastructure within the framework of which a total of 33km of bicycle paths with bituminous and concrete surface will be built and rebuilt, equipped with parking spaces, bicycle parking, signs and lighting ensuring comfortable and safe use by cyclists The impact of the project goes beyond the area of implementation of the project, its effects will be enjoyed by the residents of Zielona Góra as well as the residents of 4 communes that are part of the Municipal Functional Area of Zielona Góra. Bicycle paths will be built in places that are particularly burdensome for cycling. They will perform the function of transport corridors, using this form of non-motorized transport to reduce the use of passenger cars, emission of air pollutants, excess noise and congestion and to improve road traffic safety. Transport accessibility will be increased by making it easier to get to more places by bicycle (housing estates, schools, public places), where so far there have been no bicycle paths. The project has a significant impact on the residents of the entire Municipal Functional Area of Zielona Góra, as the material effects of the project will be made available not only to the residents of the city of Zielona Góra, but also to the residents of neighbouring communes: Czerwieńsk, Świdnica, Sulechów and Zabór. A significant number of residents of these communes commute daily to Zielona Góra to work, school, public, health or cultural institutions. The aim of the project is to create a safe and functional network of bicycle paths, constituting an alternative to car transport for the residents of the Municipal Functional Area of Zielona Góra. The project will also contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the Lubuskie Voivodeship, particularly to social and territorial cohesion, by improving the quality and functioning of the transport system based on a low-carbon.
