Revitalization of part of the city center of Lublin
Thanks to the project, the space of Litewski Square was redefined – a new layout of paths and alleys, green squares, was created. The modernization also covered a fragment of ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście, which was excluded from car traffic and transformed into a representative pedestrian passage. It is an extension of the current pedestrian street leading to the Old Town.
The surface was replaced on the square. In the western part of the square a wooden terrace was laid, which can serve as a stage for various concerts or exhibitions. Children’s playgrounds were arranged, chess tables were set up. In the central part of the square, modern fountains have been installed – a complex of water devices, with the possibility of backlighting water and presenting e.g. laser shows on a water screen. Smaller fountains were installed in other places.
In the place where Plac Litewski connects with the promenade – under special glazing – traces of the ancient buildings of this place discovered by archaeologists were exposed. Two neighboring squares were also revitalized – Józef Czechowicz Square and Father Albert Krąpiec Square. Buildings surrounding Litewski Square – Main Post Office, church o.o. Capuchins, historic palaces of the Lubomirski and the Government of the Governorate – as well as monuments standing on the square – Union of Lublin, Constitution of May 3, Marshal Józef Piłsudski, Unknown Soldier – were exposed and illuminated.
