Renovation and opening for visitors of the church tower and conservation of the façade of the Baroque Church and Monastery Complex of the Norbertine Sisters in Ibramowice
The convent of the Norbertine Sisters in Imbramowice was founded in 1223. In 1260 it was destroyed by the Tatars. It was rebuilt many times. Its present shape and the decoration of the Church of St. Peter and Paul – painting and sculptural decorations – come from the 18th century. It has been listed in the Register of Monuments of the Malopolska Region since 1995.
This seemingly modest complex of buildings is extremely valuable in religious, historical and cultural terms. The grant from the EU helped to renovate the monument and expose its values. The façade of a large part of the complex was renovated, which not only improved its visual aspects but, above all, allowed the walls to be secured against the effects of erosion for years. The church tower including the clock was undergoing conservation renovation. The tower’s cupola destroyed by a fire was replaced with a one similar to the original.
The Imbramowice complex was also secured, among others, with anti-burglary and fire alarm systems.
