Revitalization and development of a historic manor house with a park in Burzyn for cultural and tourist purposes
The aim of the project was to increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of the region based on the regional heritage.
As part of the task, the historic manor was renovated and the nearby park in Burzyn was developed.
The manor house was probably built in 1858 on the site of an old wooden manor. In 1945, the manor estate and the manor house served as an administrative and residential agricultural cooperative, and after its collapse, the ruined building was rebuilt and adapted to the needs of the local primary school. In 2004, the manor house and park were entered on the list of monuments by the Provincial Conservator of Monuments. Since then, the building was also unused and fell into disrepair as the local primary school was moved to a new location.
The aim of the project was to restore the residential function and the appropriate aesthetic values of the building. The works performed as part of the comprehensive renovation were aimed at stopping and eliminating destructive processes. In the manor house, windows and doors were replaced. A new roof covering was made, its structure was partially strengthened, a new façade was made, and the lower parts of the walls were dried. The foundations were improved to prevent the building from settling. The nearby park has been revitalized. Old and threatening trees were cut down, new vegetation was planted, and charming walking paths were built. The measures taken contributed to the increase in the cultural activity of the inhabitants and to increasing the attractiveness of the tourist offer of the facility. T
he renovated manor house is now a place to organize meetings, exhibitions, painting / sculpting plein-airs.
