Securing the ruins of the castle in Ojców with modernizing the tourist infrastructure - stage I
The project involved the renovation of the defensive tower and the gatehouse of the castle in Ojców, extending the cultural offer for tourists visiting the castle and improving the quality of access to the facility. The ruins of the castle in Ojców with the surroundings covering the entire castle hill are entered in the register of monuments of the Region. The castle in Ojców had been in a state of progressive ruin for over two centuries. The implementation of the project contributed to the increased interest of the facility among tourists, which obliges the managers to take even greater care of the historic ruins. Thanks to the EU support, the most urgent works related to the conservation of the building and the increase in the attractiveness and safety of visitors were carried out. The aim of the project was to protect the ruins against the weather conditions (including replacing a leaky shingle roof), installing windows, accessing the inside of the tower by recreating two wooden ceilings and stairs leading to them, and repairing the castle’s defensive tower, modernizing and expanding the hill’s tourist infrastructure. The facility’s offer has also been enriched with a new multimedia exhibition in the defensive tower, information boards and new stairs on the steep approach to the tower. There is also now a small cash register building with a sanitary facility for staff. The cash register facility is connected by a cable with the tower and gate buildings, which enables the staff’s faster reactions to dangerous situations in the facilities.
