Krynica Resort – the development of the spa infrastructure through renovation of the public space of the main deck of the boardwalk in Krynica-Zdrój
Krynica-Zdrój is a town captivating with its climate and wonderful landscape, located in the Beskid Sądecki region. The unique tourist qualities of this place attract thousands of patients, tourists, skiers and mountain hikers every year. Thanks to the EU funds invested here, the famous Krynica’s Boardwalk, the heart of the city and a symbol of its spa ambience, has passed a metamorphosis. The historical center of Krynica-Zdrój has turned into a modern public space where the values and attributes of the historic spa have been preserved. Modern urban interiors have been linked to landscape architecture, which highlighted the unique spatial and cultural merits of the town. The off-road stairs were renovated along with the square near the entrance to the Dietl’s Boulevards. 1.76 hectares of the Dietl’s Boulevard and of the Krynica’s Boulevard have been revitalized and the bed and surroundings of the Kryniczanka Creek have been rebuilt. There are new plantings and elements of street furniture (benches, waste bins, etc.). The boulevards and stairs have been illuminated with stylish energy-saving lamps. In addition, the entire section of the Dietl’s Boulevards has been equipped with new water supply mains, sewer, and drainage. The project has contributed to the building of a new image of Krynica and to the strengthening of its competitive advantage vs. other spas both in Poland and in Europe.
