Cultural Park of Korycin – Milewszczyzna
The main aim of the Cultural Park Korycin – Milewszczyzna is to illustrate the lives of people who lived over a thousand years in the villages nearby. The project aims to educate visitors how those historic communities lived, what they ate, and what they did. One of the exhibitions presents the way they used flax and leather, and how they produced and stored food. The park is based on three monuments: it provides early medieval fortifications, a farm and a windmill moved from the village of Jatwieź Duża.
Excavations carried out on the site of the settlement proved that it was created at the end of the 10th century, and that it was inhabited by the Slavs. Also, there have been found bronze items belonging to the inhabitants of the town. An important attraction of the park is be the windmill, which has been preserved in good condition and in its original shape. Its equipment also has been preserved. The wings of the windmill will have been reconstructed and an electric motor was installed. Now, one of the attractions will be presentation of flour grinding in the windmill.
All monuments will be restored and equipped with modern multimedia devices that will allow visitors to learn about the history in an attractive way. In the Park, there will be educational paths. And by the Kumiałka River, tourists can relax and spend their time actively, for example kayaking or cycling.
