The body of the modern cultural centre attracts attention with its original architectural solution. The red brick serves as an element connecting the historic part from 1904 with the newly built wing. The elevation of the old part of the building has been renovated and enriched with reliefs of the muse. The building is not only visually attractive and aesthetically refined but also functional.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the “Sokół” Gymnastic Society operated in this place, and the building played the role of a sports hall, cinema, club and community centre. Conferences, meetings and meetings of residents were held there. After World War II, the “San” cinema was established here, which for years popularized film culture in the Nisko region.
In addition to construction work, the project included modernization and furnishing of rooms. New studios were created: music, photography, art, as well as a dance hall and a multimedia room, which can also be used for conferences and trainings. The auditorium was thoroughly modernized – the stage was enlarged and new, aesthetic armchairs were purchased. Modern lighting, sound system, curtain and mechanisms for stage design were installed. The necessary storage, technical and wardrobe facilities were also separated. – Larger area and modern equipment allowed us to expand our activity and increase the attractiveness of the educational and cultural offer for the residents – says Alicja Sochacka, director of the Niżańskie Centrum Kultury “Sokół”. A foyer was also created with an exhibition part, in which the history of the place was presented in an original way. The expansion eliminated architectural barriers that previously prevented the disabled from accessing the building and using the Centre’s offer. The aesthetic surroundings and illumination of the facade were also taken care of.
