perspective
2014 - 2020

Keeping alive the traditions of the Central Industrial District, the present-day Stalowa Wola has built a strong economic structure and has become an important industrial centre in Poland. The city’s authorities know well that competitiveness is largely determined by good transportation accessibility. Therefore, investments in the new road layout are aimed at ensuring a smooth passage to the Stalowa Wola Economic Zone and the passenger train station.

The key project covered the construction of roundabouts in Grabskiego and Energetyków Streets, the rebuilding of Solidarności Street, including the asphalt cycle lanes, and the construction of a connector road along this street and a roundabout in Ofiar Katynia Street. A particular challenge was the connector road, as it was necessary to make deep excavation pits under the railroad tracks and the street. The undertaking, which was divided into two stages, required good cooperation with PKP (the Polish State Railways). During the works, the first railroad track was closed in the first place, and then the second one. At that time, the trains ran on one track.

‘The construction of a new transport system in Solidarności Street was of extraordinary importance for the road system in Stalowa Wola. Thanks to this investment, traffic towards the economic zone has become collision-free, independent of the rail traffic. You can smoothly drive from the economic zone into Energetyków Street towards Stalowa Wola and Nisko, and also reach the train station. The new transport system was designed with the planned ring road for Stalowa Wola and Nisko in mind
