perspective
2014 - 2020

SOUTH COAST BALTIC seeks to attract more guest boaters to the south-eastern part of the South Baltic area (Vorpommern / DE, Zachodniopomorskie & Pomorskie / PL, Kaliningrad region / RU, Klaipeda region / LT, Bornholm / DK). The aim is to increase their number by 20% until 2019 and to stabilise them at high level in long term. This is achieved by establishing a comprehensive cross-border boating destination management across the region. // Basis is the boating brand SOUTH COAST BALTIC that was created by the MARRIAGE project. Since 2012, it is used for jointly promoting the region. The market launch of the cross-border destination on domestic markets was a huge success: Along with it, the number of boaters visiting the area increased by 34 % from 2012 to 2014. // The SCB project deepens the destination building process. It extend the joint marketing with improvements of marina facilities & services to maintain the strong momentum of positive developments. For this purpose, the project: (a) Sets up a strategy & collaboration framework that aligns actions of 80 key stakeholders (marinas, charter companies, tourism association, political stakeholders), (b) Accesses new target markets (Scandinavia) & target groups (charter boaters, motor boaters) with a refined & expanded marketing campaign; (c) Establishes higher and more unify quality standards for marina facilities & services across the region: Pilot investments set new benchmarks. Accompanying competence development & dissemination activities induce improvements in 50 harbours along the entire SCB; (d) Establishes a permanent DMO that durably continues the collaboration. // The partnership includes the marina associations & main boating tourism actors from all involved sub-region. It bases on the MARRIAGE cooperation network, which proved to be able to realise a complex project with great success and is the key to achieve the ambitious goal to create high quality boating destination with the project.
