perspective
2014 - 2020

Zagórz Commune (LB) and the City of Dobromyl (B1) plan a project, the aim of which is to protect the resources of cross border natural heritage – basin of the San river (the Osława river and the Wyrwa river). The Wyrwa River has its origin in Poland, and then flows to Ukraine. A few kilometers away it is Dobromyl, heading north into the Wiar river. Both rivers have sources in Poland and flow along the Polish-Ukrainian border. The Wiar river returns to Polish territory and flows into the San river. For both rivers state border does not constitute any barrier, so it should not be an obstacle to creating and consolidating good neighborly relations between communities and Dobromyl and Zagórz. Only the joint implementation of the project will protect the Upper Basin of the San River (PLH180021), which is a place of occurrence of many valuable natural species, 9 of which are protected species and endangered species, including brook lamprey, or riffle minnow) and the East Beskidy Protected Landscape Area, Low Beskidy Protected Landscape Area and the Verhnodnistrovski Beskidy Landscape Park and International Biosphere Reserve the East Carpathians. Despite the attractiveness of the landscape and great tourist potential, as a result of water pollution natural resources of the area are poorly used, which results in a low level of development of the area. Not all households are equipped in watertight septic tanks and therefore some sewage may leak into the natural environment, the soil and the surface water causing its pollution. The overall objective of the project is to improve the attractivenes and use of the natural heritage of border areas of the Carpathians in the development of the tourist offer with the principles of sustainable development. It is planned 25.64% increase in the number of tourists that will visit objects of natural heritage located in the project area and in its immediate neighbourhood.
