Renewal of the Staromiejski park in Kąty Wrocławskie for tourist purposes
The ten-hectare Staromiejski park in Kąty Wrocławskie belongs to the Lower Silesian Landscape Park Complex „Bystrzyca Valley” and is covered by the natural environment protection – Natura 2000. The wooded area adjacent to the sports and culture centre has undergone extensive renewal in recent years. Old, diseased trees were cut down and self-sown plants were mown, making room for new plants, and the oxbow lake area was desludged and deepened.
New paths with benches and bins, lighting of the main alley, as well as information boards with riddles about nature for children and adults were created. A very interesting idea is the creation of the path of the senses filled with different fractions such as sand, chestnuts, bark, pebbles and cones. Park visitors can also relax in the new shelters with benches and tables and make a bonfire in a large shelter specially adapted for this purpose on the bank of the Bystrzyca river. Comfortable conditions for drivers were also taken care of – right at the entrance of the park there is a new car park.
The Staromiejski park, which not so long ago was neglected and unkempt, now is a perfect place for taking a stroll, doing sports and recreation. It is located only half an hour by car from the centre of Wrocław.
