Improving the functioning and cost-effectiveness of psychiatric treatment at the Mazowieckie Provincial Hospital of Drewnica
One of the most important and largest investments related to psychiatric treatment in Poland, co-financed by the Regional Operational Program for Mazovia 2014-2020. Co-financing in the amount of over PLN 95.8 million allowed for the construction of a facility of a completely new quality. The facility is innovative, functional and environmentally friendly. Professional help and comfortable conditions of the 21st century await patients.
The new facility was built in the vicinity of the existing hospital. The main pavilion consists of seven segments, connected by the so-called multi-functional zone, resembling a winter garden. There are also places for rest and therapy. There are 9 departments in the hospital: five general psychiatric and clinical departments, psychogeriatric, rehabilitation, treatment of alcohol abstinence syndromes, day psychiatric rehabilitation. In addition, there is an emergency room, a health clinic, an environmental treatment team, diagnostic laboratories and a dentist’s office. There are 280 beds and 25 places in the day ward waiting for patients. The applicant has created a recreational and sports space for patients, incl. walking paths, a table tennis area or a chess stand.
Trees, shrubs and ornamental plants were planted around the hospital so that the patients could undergo treatment in friendly conditions.
The new hospital in Drewnica works in harmony with nature. A significant part of heat energy is obtained from renewable energy sources. A solar collector installation was built next to the hospital. On the other hand, the built heat pump system allows the use of solar energy during the heating season, collected and stored in the summer. In winter, on the other hand, a modern system allows you to store cold air, so that it can be used in summer to air-condition the rooms. All thanks to the efficient STES technology, a system that allows you to store seasonal energy sources. It is a pilot project, the first of its kind in Poland.
Research shows that the problem of mental disorders affects more and more people in Poland. According to data from the Central Statistical Office of Poland, in 2015 over 1.6 million people in Poland were treated in outpatient clinics for people with mental disorders, addicted to alcohol and other substances. At that time, neurotic and mood disorders predominated. In total, they were found in over 47 percent. patients. Every ninth patient was treated for disorders caused by alcohol use, and every forty one for mental disorders caused by the use of psychoactive substances *. In order for these patients to be treated effectively, they need, inter alia, properly adapted places.
