It is becoming more common that patients self-administer subcutaneous injections. Research shows that for many diseases, self-medication at home is safe and increases treatment effectiveness. Medicines used in this form are available, among others in the therapy of diabetes, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis or viral hepatitis.One form of subcutaneous drug delivery is pre-filled pen, which is an important segment of the subcutaneous injections device market. The demand for ergonomic, safe and precise pens is dynamically growing, in parallel with the growing expenditure of their manufacturers on research and development. So far, however, no device has been developed that would meet all the requirements of buyers, i.e. it combining the possibility of precise, safe and simple administration of the correct dose, with functions such as: automatically retractable needle and temperature control of drug storage. As expected by a significant number of recipients, it is necessary to provide a disposable pen – integrated with the cartridge containing the medicine.
