Tuchow bypass
The Tuchów bypass, built with the help of EU funds, has freed the city from excessive car traffic. The 2.7 km long stretch runs along the eastern side of the city. It begins and ends with roundabouts – near the monastery and between the intersection of Voivodeship Road No. 977 with ul. Słoneczna and Polna (Słoneczna and Polna streets). In the course of the bypass, three bridges (over the Biała River and ul. Kolejowa (Kolejowa Street)), over the railway tracks and over Polna Street), service roads, street lighting and a storm water drainage system were built.
Voivodeship Road No. 977 is an important transport route in south-eastern Lesser Poland, connecting Tarnów and Gorlice. It provides access to national roads 28 and 94 and the A4 motorway. It also leads to the border with Slovakia. Thanks to the new route, transit traffic (more than 12,000 vehicles per day) has been taken out of the centre of Tuchów. This has greatly improved the comfort and safety of motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
