MALOW is a recognized manufacturer of metal furniture. Its factory is located in the Suwałki Special Economic Zone and employs 650 people. It uses new technologies and automation in the production of furniture. The aim of the project for which the company gained co-funding from the European funds is to launch an intelligent factory. This will be achieved by creating the Research and Development Centre.
The company created and equipped a new department with research, prototype modeling and construction equipment. It wants to research and implement the best solutions that are durable and functional. The employees of the R&D Center conduct development work to test and create prototypes of efficient and automated technologies. They carry out research on many levels, including: quality, durability, functionality of products and components. A 3d printer allows you to create prototypes of components for metal furniture. The company will implement the test results in its own operations at the plant in Suwałki.
What is important, the 4.0 project connects several companies from the region (and not only) and a research unit – the Institute of Innovation and Technology of the Białystok University of Technology. The Institute performed specialized strength tests of metal products. Further research is aimed at creating a system for remote operation of locks of lockers in cabinets. The prototype of the automatic production line was created in cooperation with the ZAPROM company from Białystok. The line works with a robotic device designed by the EMAUTOMATIC company from Białystok. The prototype uses the latest technologies, which enable flexible and simple production.The joint venture with JAZON from Białystok is a prototype of a robotic station for assembling cabinet bodies.
The research carried out by the R&D Centre leads to increase in efficiency and best use of the potential of machines and resources. It aims also to improve the safety of employees and reduce the negative impact on the natural environment.
