Varitex is a company from Łódź, active on the developer and construction market – for over 30 years it has been investing dynamically in residential and commercial building. The trends of recent years have also nudged the company’s business in the direction of renewable energy sources and biorecycling technology.
The actions aimed at realising this project were taken in connection with the projects conducted by the Varitex bio-gasworks.
The subject of the EU subsidy was the development of an innovative, effective method of biological processing of biomass and waste in an anaerobic environment, and Varitex purchased specialised research services for this purpose.
The R&D work focussed on developing methods allowing an intensification of biogas production by increasing and improving the metabolism of microorganisms.
The experiments involved introducing structural additives into fermented material consisting of biomass, including waste biomass. These additives constituted a structural material conducive to an improvement in the living conditions and growth of fermentation microorganisms. This provided greater efficiency and stability for the metabolism which produces the biogas.
The aim of the experiments was to discover the right proportion between the substrata and the structural materials, so as to ensure the maximum chemical energy content in the gas fuel and the remaining digestate. The proportion was also sought which would leave the biogas with the lowest H2S and NH3 content.
The technology developed ensures the microorganisms increased growth and reinforced metabolism, accelerates the intensity of the biogas process and also shortens the fermentation process. This solution also improves the energy parameters of the biogas and remaining digestate.
Thanks to the actions taken and the EU subsidy, the beneficiary has been able to expand its business in the field of renewable energy sources, thus improving its market position.
