“Improving intermodal transport in Poland, by connecting container terminals on the Baltic coast and distribution terminals in southern Poland with the transport axis connecting Western Europe with the CIS countries and China”.
The project involves the purchase of 4 multi-system locomotives and 70pieces of 80 ‘platform carriages and 21 pieces of 90’ carriages. The newly purchased rolling stock will be used to develop the possibilities of intermodal transport, especially transports from the Polish ports, where there has been a high increase in transport potential of this type.
The transport flows will mainly run southwards through Poland to the Czech Republic. By purchasing new rolling stock, DB Cargo Polska wants to participate and develop connections between the ports in Gdańsk and Gdynia, and in Silesia, to the aforementioned directions in the south as well as use newly developing potentials.
