The waste processing and neutralization plant in Czerwony Bór is run by the local government of Zambrów. The plan has been enriched with modern waste sorting and compost systems. The plant in Czerwony Bór is one of the six large installations of this type in the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
The investment is of great importance for the local community. The plant receives waste from 26 municipalities inhabited by over 160,000 people.
The co-financing under the Regional Operational Programme, worth over PLN 12 million, enabled the plant to expand the sorting and composting system. The technical infrastructure around the plant has also been rebuilt. The investment will also have a positive impact on employment growth, it is planned to employ 16 people.
On the occasion of the opening of the modernized plant, words of appreciation were also expressed by Mr. Christopher Todd – Head of the “Poland” Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy.

More than a dozen people will get employment, the level of waste recovery and processing will increase, and thus less materials will end up in landfills. This project is an expression of solidarity among all citizens of the European Union, as 55% of investment costs are non-returnable aid from the EU budget” Christopher Todd – Head of the “Poland” Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy.
The modernization of the plant will contribute to a greener way of treating waste, by increasing the mass of recovered raw materials and produced compost. A more effective waste management system means less pollution, and thus contributes to the improvement of the natural environment of our region.
