perspective
2014 - 2020

The town of Tykocin has nearly 600 years of history. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful urban complexes in Podlasie. It is called “the pearl of the baroque”. Professor Stanisław Herbst called it “the distant breath of St. Peter’s Square in Rome.”

The Administrator’s Manor House – Rezydencja Ekonomiczna, was erected in the 18th century in the New Town of Tykocin. It was built from the funds of the Jan Klemens Branicki Foundation and together with a group of other buildings, was a grain trading center.

As part of the project the city carried out renovation works which included roofing and facade, as well as adapting its appearance to other monuments built in the same period and the architectural style characteristic of the city. The development of the area around the facility involved creation of an external terrace, which is a perfect space for organising exhibitions devoted to the region and meetings with regional artists who support and promote local culture and tradition.

Additionally, there were planned parking spaces, including places for people with disabilities. A new rainwater drainage system has been installed. Its main purpose is to protect the historic building against flooding, fungi and lichens. Pedestrian routes around the building and terrace as well as the fence and entrance stairs to the building were also rebuilt. Thanks to the implementation of the project, architectural barriers that prevented access to the facility by people in wheelchairs were also removed.

The implementation of the investment contributed to improvement of the condition and promotion of cultural heritage as well as increase in accessibility of the Residence. Currently, the Tykocin city hall has its seat in the Residence.
