Revitalization of the Łapy center by renovation and reconstruction of the building of the Public Library of the City and Commune of Łapy
It is spacious, modern and functional. Renovated building of the library in Łapy, with an area of almost 950 sqm, has also been adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.
The obtained EU funds allowed to make a new facade, renovate the interior and surroundings of the building. A number of works were carried out – the rooms were renovated, the window and door joinery was replaced, the roofs and external walls were insulated. The most important installations – rainwater sewage system, sanitary sewage system, central heating and electricity – have also been renovated in the building. A mechanical ventilation system was also installed.
The renovated property has a book rental service for children and adults. The ward intended for younger readers is one of the largest rooms of the library with very attractive equipment.
“Our readers can come to us from Monday to Saturday and use the activities available here without signing up. You can not only borrow books, but also sit, talk, watch movies, play games on the play station. We also have quiet work corners. If someone does not have conditions at home, and has to work remotely, needs peace, he can come to us. We have wi-fi, you can use our computer or come with your own” – encourages the director of the facility.

This two-storey building, previously without facilities for people with limited mobility, is now an open space for everyone, without restrictions.
This is due to the reconstruction of the entrance stairs along with the ramp. Access to the library was also increased by the installation of an elevator and the renovation of bathrooms, taking into account the needs of people with disabilities.
As director Małgorzata Roszkowska emphasizes, the changes have meant that from week to week, the library is visited by more and more people.
