perspective
2014 - 2020

One of the challenges that the cross-border area between north-eastern Poland and Kaliningrad Region faces is the lack of tourist trails and products prepared as an all-year offer addressed to local residents and visitors, including holidaymakers staying on the Baltic coast. The aim of this project is to create such products, based on the mutual historical and natural heritage (castles of the Teutonic Order state, First and Second World War, amber) of Poland and Russia, and managed by partners on both sides of the border. The project partners are institutions which possess the statutory power to conduct such enterprises as envisaged in the project, have profound experience and have achieved good results in their provinces and countries. The project will enable them to combine their knowledge and efforts, which will result in the creation of shared tourist trails and products, which in turn will increase the number of tourists visiting culture and nature heritage sites in the Provinces of Pomerania and of Warmia and Mazury in Poland, and the Kaliningrad Region in the Russian Federation. In their mutually undertaken efforts, the partners will employ traditional (printed materials, information boards, educational games, articles in the press, meetings with employees from cultural and tourist companies) and modern information and communication tools (study tours, a weblog, social media, a mobile telephone application). These activities will be joined by Polish-Russian reenactment groups, whose offer of the reenactment of events connected with the region’s history can create a tourist appeal of a given site. The Programme will create an opportunity to bring together various partners from the neighbouring countries, and the results of their work will benefit communities on both sides of the border. Execution of a project that has such a geographical range and involves an international partnership cannot be financed from national funds .
