perspective
2014 - 2020

Despite the growing level of interest in the issue of preservation of cultural and historical heritage on the part of local communities and authorities on both sides of the Russian-Polish border, the situation in this field still has a lot of scope for improvement, and in some aspects can be considered critical. Chronic lack of funding kept heritages sights at the periphery of government programmes attention, which resulted in significant deterioration of their physical conditions and in many cases led to complete degradation of such objects. Yet, with the proper approach, historical and cultural heritage sights can become the driving factors behind the economic and cultural revival of the places they are located in. The municipalities involved in the project are representative of the overall current situation in the Kaliningrad Region and the Warmian-Mazuarian Voivodeship in this field. Both of them have unique sites of historical and cultural value (Patersort area in Ladushkin and the ruins of the historical mill in Mlynary). However, neither of the two municipalities possess sufficient resources to improve these facilities. The overall objective is preservation and promotion of local cultural and historical heritage in the Programme area. To this end, the beneficiaries intend to develop historical heritage infrastructure in Ladushkin and Mlynary and to promote local cultural heritage sights of the two regions. The main outputs of the project will include parks of miniatures in a revitalized historical areas of Ladushkin and Mlynary, a joint tourism product and a website promoting the objects of historical and cultural heritage of the Programme area. Implementation of the project in the cross-border partnership will allow to fully use the synergies resulting from mutual promotion of the unique objects and shared experience and knowledge enriching the project from both sides of the border and used to the benefit of residents and tourist of the involved regions.
