Developing and testing a significantly improved product in the form of a composition of feed additives, optimised in terms of efficiency of use and economy of production, applied in milk substitutes for calves.
Polmass S.A. has 35 years of experience in consultancy and production, mainly of milk substitute and mineral/vitamin preparations for calves and dairy cows. This has resulted in a large group of customers, high levels of trust from livestock farms and a prestigious leading position in the industry in Poland.
The aim of the project was to develop an innovation in the form of a significantly improved product – a milk substitute for calves, enriched with a special composition of feed additives. The essence of the innovation lay i optimising the new product in terms of its efficiency of use and economy of production.
The beneficiary’s offer was expanded to include an innovation which allows end users to strengthen the effect of rearing calves by increasing the growth of the animals’ body mass. The new preparations also contribute to reducing the calves’ vulnerability to illness, which means that the food which reaches customers is healthier.
The innovation was developed in collaboration with the University of Agriculture in Krakow – an institution with the greatest experience in the field of calf nutrition, collaborating in this areas with universities around the world. The research led to the selection of the feed additives with the greatest potential and positive influence on the effect of calf rearing.
As a result, a report was produced containing a selection of feed additive compositions which were optimal in terms of effectiveness of use and economy of production, for use in milk substitutes, then production was commenced.
The launch of this product in response to the requirements of end users has strengthened the market position of the beneficiary. There is no doubt that the company’s competitiveness and export potential have also increased.
