A theory-based online-delivered intervention to promote weight loss maintenance: a within-person randomised controlled trial.
In Poland, 53.3% of the population is overweight or obese and this number is rising. Overweight and obesity are preventable and there is an urgent need to help people lose weight and maintain weight loss long term to improve health and quality of life. The aim of this study is to develop and test an online delivered intervention to help people make sustainable changes in their diet, physical activity, and weight. The proposed study will test a two-arm adaptive within-person online intervention with participants (N=292) randomly assigned to an intervention arm or a wait list control arm. The intervention will apply evidence-based behaviour change techniques and state of the art tailoring principles. Key behavioural outcomes will be measured at baseline, 3- and 6-months, weight will be measured weekly in the intervention arm. Data will be analysed using multilevel modelling. A national dissemination strategy of project outcomes will be developed with key partners and stakeholders.
