Construction of an environmental education centre with equipment in the Ciężkowicko-Rożnowski Landscape Park in the municipality of Rzepiennik Strzyżewski.
The municipality of Rzepiennik Strzyżewski lies within the boundaries of two landscape parks: Ciężkowicko-Rożnowski Park Krajobrazowy (Ciężkowice-Rożnowski Landscape Park) and Pasmo Brzanki (Brzanka Range Landscape Park). Up to 92% of the area is under legal protection. To promote the natural values of the area, an Environmental Education Centre (OEE) has been established in Rzepiennik.
An EU grant of more than PLN 2.6 million helped to furnish the attic of the building housing the municipal office for the centre’s activities and to equip the new space. Thanks to the investment, the facility was equipped with a photovoltaic system and solar panels, which will reduce maintenance costs.
The OEE will offer exhibitions, educational panels and multimedia content about the fauna and flora of the surrounding fields, meadows and farms in an area of over 300 m2. It is a place where we will enter the world of insects, wild and domesticated animals. Here we will look at the cultivation of cereals and oilseeds, organic food production and sustainable agriculture. Based on the exhibition, lessons and workshops will be held and excursions organised. The centre is equipped with bicycles, including bicycles for people with disabilities (hand-driven) and a tandem for visually impaired and blind people.
The charms of Rzepiennik can be admired, among other things, during walks along the nature trails: “Through the forest” (“Przez las”) and “To the beavers” (“Do bobrów”). Thanks to a project co-financed by European funds, both trails have been marked with information boards. Wooden tables and benches have been placed along the paths where people can sit and rest.
