Carpathian region has more than a thousand years of winegrowing and winemaking experience. It makes wine traditions an essential part of the Carpathian culture heritage. Nevertheless, the current problem of the Carpathian culture of winegrowing and winemaking is the low recognition of wines and wine localities among local residents, tourists, tour operators etc. At the same time in the world scale, the increased popularity of wine regions causes the interest of tourists, local residents and affects the preserving and recreation of wine traditions. All the above mentioned has necessitated the Project aimed at preserving and promotion of wine traditions as a part of cultural heritage. It will be achieved by the means of research activities (study on traditional grape varieties in the Carpathian region and different sorts of wine, exploring of the Carpathians wine traditions, determination the districts and localities in Zakarpattia and Podcarpackie that are famous for their vineyards and wineries), development of tourist products to attract visitors (cross-border wine tourist trail), cross-border events promoting the culture traditions of winemaking (cross-border wine festival, Carpathian wine academy), as well as promotional publications to be disseminated among the tourists and participants of the events (publication “Carpathian wine list”, wine route map, special thematic issue of the Carpathian Newsletter, promotional gadgets). Implementation of the project gives the opportunity to visitors to learn about the present and the history of viticulture and winemaking in the Carpathians, participate in cultural events related to wine, remember a region through the prism of taste.
