Reconstruction of the regulatory structure of the Odra River - adaptation to class III waterway on the section from Ścinawa to the estuary of the Nysa Łużycka - STAGE II
The scope of the project includes the reconstruction and modernization of the existing system of regulation structures (spurs) on the free-flowing Odra River. During the modernization works, 341 spurs will be rebuilt and dredging works, ie liquidation of 11 regrinds (shallowings).
The implementation of the modernization of the regulatory structure on the Odra River will be carried out, among others, by for the following purposes:
- improving the conditions for the functioning of inland waterway transport, including: enabling an increase in the volume of barge transport; making it possible to extend the distance for which goods will be transported; enabling the extension of the distance for which goods will be transported, improvement of multimodal connections, etc.
- increasing the safety of the public property and property of residents before the flood, including: minimizing the effects of flooding and flooding in agricultural areas; increasing the tourist attractiveness of the areas covered by the project, etc.
- creating better conditions for the development and running of economic activity, including farms,
- improving the conditions for practicing water tourism, including sailing,
- creating more environmentally friendly conditions for the functioning of inland water transport,
- reducing the number of embolic sites,
- obtaining the desired depths up to a depth of 1.8 m and stabilizing the river bed in order to ensure appropriate working conditions for icebreakers,
- protection against flooding of naturally valuable Natura 2000 areas located in the project area.
