Metro II line in Warsaw – Preparation works, project and construction of the central section with purchasing of the trains.
The Project was implemented as two subprojects:
Subproject A
As part of the project, the central section of the second metro line, approximately 7 km long, was completed along with 7 stations:
• Rondo Daszyńskiego, • Rondo ONZ, • Świętokrzyska, • Nowy Świat – Uniwersytet, • Centrum Nauki Kopernik, • Stadion Narodowy, • Dworzec Wileński.
Preparatory works were carried out (for subsequent sections of the second line) and the infrastructure of the Kabaty Technical and Parking Station (STP Kabaty) was rebuilt along with the extension of the western head.
The preparatory work concerned the subsequent sections of the second metro line and the selected infrastructure elements planned for implementation of the Kabaty Technical and Parking Station and the western head (track and turnout complex). The preparatory work included mainly: design works (including geological works), performance of analyzes, studies, reports, expertises, maps and photographic, hydrological and geological – engineering documentation, determination of subway construction impact zones for nearby buildings, forecast of dynamic impacts on buildings and people, assessment of the condition of buildings in zones affected by subway construction, inventory including greenery and buildings, regulation of the legal status of real estate, surveys and measurements of land and gathering the necessary opinions in the processes of obtaining administrative decisions for the erected section and for the planned sections. The preparatory work also included the necessary updates of the documents mentioned.
The subproject was implemented by the Capital City of Warsaw.
Subproject B
35 modern trains (six car with one spacious) were purchased. The trains were bought on the principle of partnership by Metro Warszawskie Spółka z o.o.
Thanks to the project, the city has gained a modern ecological transport infrastructure, which has shortened the travel time on the Rondo Daszyńskiego – Dworzec Wileński route, which is an incentive for using public transport as an alternative to individual transport.
