Purchase of low-floor tram rolling stock in order to improve and improve the quality of municipal public transport in Krakow - Part I
The project includes the purchase of 35 low-floor trams with repair packages, spare components (including bogies), equipment and service training.
The supplier of vehicles for Krakow, based on the framework agreement and the first implementation agreement, signed on January 16th 2018, is a consortium of Stadler Polska Sp. z o.o. and Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. Deliveries of trams covered by the first implementation contract are to be completed in the third quarter of 2020.
In total, by the end of 2020, 50 modern low-floor trams with the trade name “Lajkonik” will appear in Krakow. Additional 15 vehicles will be delivered on the basis of the second implementation contract of December 12th 2018, which is a continuation of the complementary activities started under the project “Purchase of low-floor tram rolling stock in order to improve and improve the quality of municipal public transport in Krakow – Part I”
The main goal of the project is to improve the quality and accessibility of public transport in servicing the residents of Krakow by renewing the tram rolling stock park. Modern equipment and components of new vehicles, incl. air conditioning, passenger information system and video monitoring will improve the safety and comfort of traveling, increase the reliability of tram transport and adapt the transport system to support people with disabilities, the elderly or traveling with children.
