Podkarpackie Innovation Centre
The project was created as a result of cooperation between Podkarpackie Voivodeship and the European Commission during the first edition of the Catching-up Regions initiative in Poland, where the potential and development opportunities of the region were diagnosed in cooperation with World Bank experts. The effect of the work was to develop a concept of creating a regional office for technology transfer by the Self-Government of the Voivodeship in the form of a commercial law company with 100 shares of Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
The project covers 3 areas, called platforms:
- Valorization of R&D Projects – The aim of the platform is to search for research projects carried out by scientific teams at partner universities in Podkarpackie with a low level of technological development, but with a high potential for commercialization in order to support them with a combination of financial and advisory tools. After the support of the projects, PCI will carry out active activities aimed at commercialization of the technology produced in this way, as well as technology produced in scientific units from other sources.
- Commissioned research – The aim of the platform is to inventory the scientific resources of universities, in particular those created within the projects implemented in the programming period 2007-2013. As a result of this activity, the offer of laboratories that can be used to provide commercial research services will be built and marketed.
- ProtoLab – Within the framework of the ProtoLab, a workshop area has been prepared and made available together with basic equipment allowing for quick prototyping. This area is made available free of charge to users interested in creating prototypes and new solutions, in particular to students and university research circles.
