Chełmek - reNEWal. New spaces for social activity and integration in Chełmek, especially for seniors, children and families with children
The aim of the project was to strengthen the integration of Chełmek residents, social inclusion and to shape their identity. Activities related to the implementation of the project contributed to the extension of the offer of access to city attractions, especially for those residents who are at risk of social exclusion (families with children, seniors and young people). As part of the project, spaces for recreation, integration and meetings of residents were created. The way of use was changed and the local kindergarten was rebuilt to adapt it to the integration function. The building houses: a library, a common room, extra-curricular rooms, a restaurant and a playroom, the so-called “Kulkowo”. The newly created complex also allows the whole family to participate in sports activities (e.g. tennis). The existing Retirement Home in Chełmek has been expanded, renovated and renamed to become the Retirement Home. The roads belonging to the revitalized area were transformed so that their use was easier for seniors and families with children. Thanks to the renovation of utility spaces, the facilities can now be used by elderly and dependent people with special needs, including people with mobility disabilities, parents with prams or small children and children traveling on their own. The project is one of the key elements of the entire package of activities included within the Chełmek ReNEWal.
